Our commitment
At Gelato Fest BCN we want everyone to be able to use this website, whatever their abilities or the technology they browse with. We work continuously to improve accessibility and to apply the relevant standards.
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) set out requirements for making content more accessible to people with disabilities. They define three levels of conformance: A, AA and AAA.
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. “Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the standard.
In Spain the reference standard is UNE-EN 301 549:2019, which incorporates the WCAG into the European accessibility requirements.
Measures taken
- Colour contrast between text and background reviewed.
- Semantic heading structure and alternative text on images.
- Descriptive accessible names on links, including links that are areas over an image.
- Full keyboard navigation, with a visible focus indicator.
- The system’s reduced-motion preference is respected.
- Content reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320 px wide and supports resizing text to 200 %.
- The language is declared on the document and on every translated fragment, so screen readers use the right pronunciation.
- Links that open a new window say so in their accessible name.
- All content is in the served HTML: the page can be read even if JavaScript never runs.
Technical specifications
Accessibility of this site relies on the following technologies, which must be available in the browser alongside any assistive technology installed: HTML, WAI-ARIA, CSS and JavaScript.
Compatibility with browsers and assistive technology
The site is designed to work with recent versions of the major browsers and with the most common screen readers. It may not work correctly with older browsers or versions.
Known limitations
Despite our efforts, there are limitations we are working to resolve:
- The phrase of the day, the logo and the titles of the legal pages are shown in white over the brand orange. Measured against the real background, contrast drops to 1.9:1 in the lightest parts of the gradient, below the 3:1 that WCAG asks for even for large text. The colour is the business’s identity, so instead of changing it we have reinforced legibility with a shadow behind the text. The address, phone number and opening hours are repeated as ordinary text, with sufficient contrast, in the information block below that first screen.
- For the same reason, small white text over that orange does not reach the required 4.5:1 either: the links and copyright line in the home page footer, and the back link, the date and the footer of the legal pages. None of them is the only route to its destination: every page of the site is reachable from every other one.
- The logo has the name, the tagline, the address and the Instagram handle baked into the image itself. It carries alternative text describing all of it and its two linked areas have accessible names, but being an image, that text cannot be resized or recoloured like the rest.
- The background carries moving decorative particles which, as they pass behind the text, can briefly reduce its contrast. Anyone with the reduced-motion preference enabled will not see them: the page then stops every background animation.
Assessment approach
The conformance of this site was assessed by a self-assessment carried out by the team that develops the site on August 14, 2026.

Scope of this statement
We publish this statement voluntarily. Spanish Royal Decree 1112/2018 binds the public sector, and this is a private business’s site: it is not subject to that decree, and there is no authority to complain to about its accessibility. If you get no reply, or the reply does not satisfy you, write to us again or tell us at the shop — we want to know.
